Filter

Does is help to have a stronger filter in a 10 gallon, what i have now is what came with the filter, but i was thinking if i add a better filter would it be better for fish or not? If so, what are the suggestions for good filter that are not so expansive?

if it were me i would put a HOB (hang on the back) bio-wheel (probably a penguin?) type filter on a ten gallon, and i'd try to get one that's rated for about 30g... i wouldn't use carbon in it though, just the floss stuff, on a cartridge frame, or a piece of sponge cut to fit.

Penquin Biowheel filters are what I'd recommend. You'll want one that is 100gph or more.

Just watch out for the current it can create. I have a Tetratec PF300 on our 20Gal and it creates a pretty decent current in there. There isn't any fish right now.. But I guess it was just an fyi... either way, more is better with filtering.

Next tank I get I'm trying an aquaclear, larger than the tank size. I like the idea that they use some of the same filter media that canister filters use, and just want to see if they do a better job than the bio wheel.

they do a great job

To the original post: I would recommend an aquaclear, they're very nice. Otherwise, maybe you can just add some biological filtration to your current filter...like get an aquaclear bio-media filter cartridge and put that in there (it doesn't fit, you just cram it in somewhere).
