Regarding filters and media:

Currently, we have the 10g and 29g starter kits by TopFin. These of course come with their own brand filter systems. We have the 10 and 30 regarding the filter systems. Up until this point, I've had the stock cartridges in place, with just the carbon. Today while running errands, I picked up the Bio 3 cartridges to fit both filter systems. I've searched and read through a lot of posts to find the best way to change things out, but for whatever reason it's just not clicking. We only had 3 hours of sleep due to a teething baby, so that could be it . Do I take the Bio3's and just drop them in the tank itself for a few days and let bacteria settle in it? The Bio-Spira has cycled pretty quickly it looks like: ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates look like they are between 10 and 20? does that sound right?

I understand once we get the Bio3's (cart's with the spinge on them, they will stay in there for roughly 6 months, until it starts to fall a part basically. Do I need to continue to pick up stuff that goes on the otehrside, or just leave the sponge itself in there?

And again, as far as getting these cart's ready for prime filter use, do I just drop em in the tank and let them soak for a few days, or go ahead and put them in the filter system, since there was no sponge previously?

Thanks again

The sponge stays in and you can just swap the cartridge out.
