I've had my AquaOne Maxi 101F for less than 24hours

Hi!

Yesterday I bought an AquaOne Maxi 101F for £13 ($26) to use in my 7.5G bowfront Betta tank. I came home, and when I install it I find out that it's noisier than my 47Gal filter! I mean - I have all 3 tanks in my bedroom, and this filter is my smallest and noisiest. I am already hating it... I had to turn it off last nigth just to get to sleep!

What are your personal experiences with filters like this, and do they stop being so noisy or do I have to buy a Fluval 1+ for it? I'm tempted - but I need to see what my parents say about that first... I really don't like it - and it's drowning out my 47gal's noise. My dad says he can hear THAT downstairs - with this monterous noise-machine hwat sort of thing is he going to be hearing?!

I have an AquaOne Maxi 103F and i love it, cannot hear it at all.

The above is running in my 5ft tank on the absolute minimum setting. If i have it flat out it swirls the tank and poor fish *LOL*

Hi!

I heard they're a quiet lot of filters - and it seems quieter now - but still around the same noise level as my 47gal's.

It seems I have attained a 'freak-filter'!

Maybe pull it apart and see if anything is caught in it?

No, it's functioning properly. I always pull my new filters apart to get to know them.

Sounds like a defective filter and I'd return it for a new one. Sounds like it's got a bad impeller. Did it make a lot of noise right after you first primed it?
