filter problem?

I have had a Whisper Power 20 Filter in my 20gal tank for 3 months now. Just recently the flow coming out of the filter has decreased significantly. It seems as if water is barely trickling out of it whereas before it used to be forced out.

I have replace the Bio-Bag multiple times over the 3 months, and there is a new one in there now, so that is not the issue. I've tried to clean the tube that sticks into the water, and still no improvement.

If anyone has any suggestions on whether it's just a bad filter and i should get another one, or if there is a cleaning i can do to get it back up to speed. Thank you.

I suggest changing filters to a different brand. I used a Marineland Penguin Bio-Wheel in a 10 gallon tank. It was quiet, efficient, and I believe you can get one for the 20 gallon for relatively cheap. Aim for buying a filter that pumps around 200 gallons per hour. Hope this helps!

generally when the power slows it means the motor needs to be taken out and cleaned.. most filters will come apart just for this reason.. unplug ur filter take it out and see if u can find a way to get to the motor and parts.. take them out give them a rinse and see if it helps

Yea, it might be a bad impeller. I'd recommend the Penquin Biowheel filters if it needs replaced, but it would be worth checking for hair or something else causing problems with the impeller.
