sump filter

In a few months I am going to get a new 75 gallon tank for my Oscar and Pleco. Is it a good idea if I set up a sump filter?
P.S Is a sump filter hard to set up? and also why is a sump filter better than all of the other filters? Also, do I need a special tank or equipment? Lastly, would petsmart or petco have them, or would I have to buy them off the internet?

Well, I wouldn't say it is a bad idea especially as Oscars produce a lot of waste. You can buy a sump and the equipment from LFS's, you'd have to check on Petsmart etc, or build one yourself.

I dont know how they go along with fresh water but i do know they are very good for saltwater setups. It can be made out of a tank, tub or you can get one at a lfs or over the net.

If I buy a sump filter at my lfs, will I have to drill a hole in my tank?

For a fresh water tank of that size I would go for a canister filter rated at around 400gph. Sumps are more for Salt water tanks
