Is this a good filter system?

We are getting our 55 g going and we are putting in our first cichlids this week and all we have filter wise in right now is the small 60g filter like the whisper system on top that comes w/ the tank kits. So I thought we needed more for when we start to overstock the tank to take care of the heavy waste load of the african cichlids. Is this one good for what these fish will put out? http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...95&pcatid=3595

That along with your whisper filter should do fine. marineland generally makes good products and the bio-wheel is a nice addition to filters, I love mine on my penguin bio-wheel. I would go with the pro system though. You may also want to look into eheim cannister filters if that's the type you are looking at.

We just bought an Odyssea CFS4 Canister filter for our 46Gal bow front. So far it seems really nice. HERE is a link to where we bought it from. It's been running on the tank for about a week now with our TetraTec 300 and I can tell a difference since we got it. It comes with all the necessary stuff (other then floss) to get it started. Activated carbon, ammonia remover, bio-glass biological media, and bonded pad are included. Just thought I would throw my 2cents in.
