overflowing Aqauclear

What would cause this?
The water level in the filter was very high and overflowed on to the floor. We where going to take the motor off and clean that out. We thought that there maybe some hair caught around the impeller.

Hi, I have an aquaclear too. It wouldn't be the impeller, if that weren't working right, the water wouldn't be getting to the filter well. My only guess is that the sponge is clogged, or the ammonia chips, or charcoal is all needing rinsed well in some tank water. I would just do a small water change (unless you're due for a regular one) and take the filter off and rinse everything well in the tank water. hope that helps

Good job, I figured it might be the sponge, they really work well, so they can get clogged fast. Especially if you use flake food for most of the feeding. Flakes have a gelatin in it to make it into flakes, and this will collect in the sponge. Least you know the sponge is doing it's job!
