I have a 55 gallon tank someone gave me I'm setting up for some angels. I don't know whether to just get 2, because I read you wont have any aggression problems that way. Or if I should get 5 or so. I wont have anywhere to move them except a 75 gallon that all ready has 1 juvenile angel. What ever else I get will be juvenile too.

I don't really care if I have a pair or not . I wouldn't have any room for the babies and I don't want to have to sell any. I just want a few pretty angels, and maybe some cories.

What would you do?

Thanks so much!

So I'm suppppppper excited.

Ok ok. So I was taking my significant other home (she's a lizard person. Bizarre right?) Anyways after I took her home I said to myself "Ahhh what the heck I'll stop by this aquarium store" And inside was an angelfish with orange on the top and black spots. And I was like ooooooooooo MUST HAVE. So I dropped the 15$ for it. Brought "her" (I think) home acclimated.

Then in the aquarium she goes. Getting along fabulously with my black marble. (paired already lol?) Now my silver angel is all lonesome. But he will live.

So at first I thought it was a koi angel turns out it's a golden marble. It's all good though I LOVE IT TO DEATH ALREADY. Still looking for my camera though. And I still want that koi angel. I will find it one day.

But for now time to welcome Bon Scott to my tank.

SUPER HAPPY

:usaflag:
Hey all, first time posting here. All of a sudden this afternoon both of my angelfish look like they got a tan at the beach. It's only from their eyes up through the dorsal fin. I was wondering if this could be a problem or them just growing and gaining a different color. They are eating just fine, actually one of them is a little fat (could that be a problem too?). They eat flakes, crisps and freeze dried brine shrimp. I feed the pleco half an algae wafer each night. I attached a picture, but it doesn't show the coloring so well.

10 Gallon tank:
1 standard pleco
1 neon tetra
1 red tetra
1 cherry barb
3 zebra danios
2 angelfish

Tank has been set up for at least 2 months. We use Stress Zyme, Stress Coat and Prime with water changes once a week. AquaClear 20 filter. I can't tell you the chemistry at this time as the glass vile test tube broke :(

Introducing Scrat and Calsifer. Scrat is the marble angel and Calsifer is the yellow and white iridescent angel. They currently reside in a 10 gallon tank but will be moving to a 50 gallon as soon as dad gets the wall remodeled that the tank will be going on. He promises by Christmas.
Anyway, here are some pictures taken with my cell phone of them and the tank. We are feeding them Aqueon Color Enhancing Tropical Flakes.

Stats on my water:
11/13/09

nitrate: 40
nitrite: 3.0
hardness: 300
alkalinity: 300
pH: 8.4
ammonia: 0
Temp: 80 degrees

I do realize the hardness, alkalinity and ph levels are high. Unfortunately I didn't get to fully cycle the tank as Dad was wanting to put some pretties in right away. We just have to make do and hope the boys survive.

Hello all! We recently purchased four quarter-sized angels for our 55 gal planted community tank. (two silver veils and two black) However, we are actually planning on taking two back very soon as was suggested by others after my initial post. We were planning on doing it this Thursday, our soonest day off. BUT, one of them seems sick? It is the smallest of the group..it just hangs out in the back corner of the tank by itself by the top, very RARELY leaves that position. The others are doing fine, looking very happy in fact and all fish in the tank seem to be getting along. I have watched the tank very closely for aggression by anyone...nothing. It doesn't eat, just hangs out there..the others will visit it once in a while but he is uninterested. I have tried bloodworms, brine shrimp, peas, and peas soaked in garlic as I hear these are their favorites? What else can I do? I hate to see a sick fishy, especially one so pretty as an angel, I also don't want to take a sick fish back to the LFS. Water parameters good Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrates 10...ph stays at 7.5 and heat at 78 (admittedly when the lights are on however, it does get to 79-79.5). What should be done?

Hey all...

Finally i took some time to take a couple of crappy pics of my large outdoor Angelfish tank. Tank is low tech 200 Gal (8ft Long), fully planted, 128W + natural light...

Fish: (11) Angelfish, (6) Serpae tetra, (8) Black skirt tetra, (2) Flame gourami, (6) Clown loach.

Plants: Hygrophyla difformis, Egeria densa, Bacopa caroliniana, Anubias marble, Echinodorus, Vallisneria americana, Ceratophyllum submersum, Hydrocotyle verticillata, African fern, and some others...

It used to be a Walstad style natural tank, but i had to tear it down due to a severe algae outbreak because it gets too much sunlight. Several fish and plants died in the process, but its slowly recovering........

i dont have too much time to take care of it right now, because i'm extremely busy w/ work and my upcoming baby son :) but hopefully in the next months i'll be able to bring it into form and finish the sketchy provisional stuff... and take better pics :D

So I have a 29 gallon with two angels in it. They are Juviniels and I don't think that they are going to grow out to thier full size but I think that they will get bigger.
My question is:
What other Cichlids would be compatable with the angels?
I have fairly hard water and my PH is aobut 7.6

I have treid rams but they died, I think they need softer water and less PH.
I like Kribs, Firemouths, Keyholes.
If you have any recomendations for new fish that would be great!
I think that I might add one more angel too at about the same size as the ones that I have.

Thanks For The Help!

About a week ago, before, I joined here, I went to the LFS to get a new fish for my tank (60 litre). At the time I had 3 Mollies and 2 Platys and asked the shop assistant whether I could get one of the little Koi Angelfish I saw swimming around. I'd heard they could be agressive so asked if it would be ok in my tank and he said yes.

However, I've recently been looking around and hearing that Angelfish can grow quite big, so now i'm worried my tank might not be big enough for mine. The shop assistant said the Koi Angelfish wouldn't grow any bigger but I'm worried now after what I've read!

My Angelfish (Halo) is adorable now he has settled in and seems really happy so the last thing I want to do is get rid of him!

ps. with my current inhabitants is my tank to small to get any more fish? I'd hate to overcrowd them

thanks for nay help anyone can give :)

i have 3 angles in my tank im sure 2 are females and 1 is a male i think i have a humbug zebra angle and 2 x blue grey angles. my tank is 4ft long 1ft/half high and 1ft/half deep. the plants i have are sword plants wich are big and healthy.
my humbug angle and the blue and grey angle 1 seem to be at one end of the tank cleaning leafs left right and centre but the odd thing is blue and gery angle seems to get board of this and goes to the other end of the tank and pairs up with blue and grey angle 2 and dose the process all over again cleaning leafs lef right and centre. when this cleaning process goes on the y seem to attack and go for me tetras and corys in my tank. (when blue grey angle is with blue gery angle 2 or vice versa blue grey angle 1 is with humbug angle humbug angle angle and blue grey angle 2 fight like cat and mouse they shake at each other with there fins all puffed out and attack each other very aggresively as ive seen some scales have been missing off both fish. any suggestions will be very helpful?

Hi..
i have a couple of small anglefish with three small afra cichlids..
one of the angels is slighlty larger..the smaller one has damage to its fins, and tail... im not sureif it is from nippin or not, it looks like it...
however i dont know which of the fish caused it... the afra cichlids seem to be only amongst themselves and the angelfish are together a lot of the time...
how can i know who is the culprit?
it didnt seem as if the afra cichlids were having conflict with the angels, and the slightly larger angel is fine..
