So now that my main tank is established and good to go, I was thinking of taking out the plastic decor one by one and replacing with real. My question is, can I take the gravel out as well? It's used black gravel and doesn't really look all that great. I'd love to get some gravel/sand but curious as to how I would do this and what negative effects replacing the black gravel would have? I don't have another tank to put the fish from this tank into else I'd just move them all over and clean up the current tank.

hi all.

As some of you will have seen from another thread I have just setup my first planted tank. The Foreground plants are not looking so good so ive been looking for an alternative.

Ive been thinking about making a carpet from java moss, Using the Plastic mesh that are used as tank deviders in another thread.

My tank does not have enough light really for something like HC but Im thinking that if trimmed and cared for a moss carpet would look really nice.
Im thinking towards my next project aswell so this could be something that makes its way into a number of my tanks.

what do you good people think? Ive ordered some java moss and should have it next week to try it out. Ive also got a small amount of christmas moss that could be used in a simular way but dont have enough to do a full carpet at the moment.

thanks again in advance

mark

Hi guys!

I'm using my not so hard earned money to set up a betta tank!
And I'm lookin for suggestions.

I think I want either something high contrast (like I saw the pink and white one someone had, very nice) and simplistic or something asianish (like bamboo and the little shrines etc). But not all green and natural looking.

I've been searching through all the tanks but haven't found many ideas so...

Has anyone got a tank that they think is similar to what I want?

Thanks guys!
