hi everyone, i currently have a 13 gallon tank, and have three mollies at the moment. I like these fish, because they are really active swimmers and great breeders. But now i want to introduce more fish, i want some tropical fish that are colourful and great to watch for my tank. Can anyone recommend any fish that you have that are really entertaining? thanks

I have a 55gallon tank with a large black ghost knife fish. He seems to have killed off all my mollies and all but one platy. I'm not sure what kind of fish I can add because he keeps killing them all. I also had glass fish, but they are all gone. I have one large snail, an upside down bottom feeder, a ghost shrimp and a 6inch long bottom feeder. I would like to have some fish swimming around in my tank and if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks in advance

I have a 15 gallon High tank that used to be home to 12 female Bettas until about 4 months ago they all died in a matter of 4 days. I believe it was Columnaris due to their visible symptoms of white mouths that spread to other parts of the body and tail disintegration.

I did a 100% water change and then refilled and dumped 1 cup of Pure ammonia in the tank. I left the filter running with the old media and the turned the heater up to 95 degrees F. About 2 weeks later after 2 50% water changes the tanks levels had reached 0 Nitrites 0 Ammonia and 10 Nitrates. At this point I removed the heater and added 14 Rosy Red Minnows. They have been fine for the last 2 months then suddenly 4 died in one day and by the 3rd day (today) I only have 1 left! None of them show signs or symptoms.

I checked the levels on the first day I found 4 dead and the only reading I got was Nitrates at 20ppm, I did a 5 gallon water change that day. After they have been dead for at least an hour their bellies show what seems like bruising they are a dark reddish purple.

Could this be some type of internal bacteria?

I treated for this using Fizzies Jungle brand for internal and external bacteria on the 1st day but still lost all but 1.

Also note that the tank stays between 62 to 65degrees F, very steady from what I have noted.

If anyone could tell me if these two instances are related I would be very thankful. And also what could have masacured my Rosy Reds!

I want to eventually add a new type of fish (undecided). Also please not that the tank has "parasitic" snails that have not been phased by deaths or the treatment.

Any info would be great!
I had a betta in there but he passed on to a new life. :( I want to add a couple guppies. Is this safe for all my other fish? Specially my pleco, he's my baby! Also, might be a stupid questions, how do you breed fish? Never heard of such a thing. Guess I just thought fish magically had babies. LOL! Thanks all!

i had seen some articles where they had said that useing the "moonlight" lights could be benifisial as it makes the atmosphere of the tank more lifelike plus it gives you a chance to see the shy fish that only come out at night. so I decided to get a set and im just waiting for a digital timer that will auto switch between the normal tank lights and these new ones. I fitted the lights and wondered what you thought.
I will try takeing a few more pics tonight when its darker

hi everyone,
tragedy has struck my tank and i could do absolutly nothing about it. in a span of 24 hours 2 of my fish had died.

no it wasnt desease. it wasnt anything i could treat.

one of my glo fish and one of my guppies desided to try to fit behind my breeders net. they got stuck (one while i was sleeping, and the other while i was at school) and were injured enough that within about a span of 24 hours they had both passed.

i felt so helpless.

then i decided i would find a solution so i moved the breeders net out a little so that now my fish can pass behind it with room to spare.

i never thought this could have happened and i wish that i would have been prepared but at least i am prepared now

so following there deaths i went to my LFS and got a female glofish and a female guppy ( the guppy looks to be pregnant from the store so more fry are probley on the way)

im hoping that this tradgedy has prepared me for the future.

is there anything more i could have done? or should do?

if so please tell me.

: )

Hello, hope someone can answer my question. I love my pacu and everyday I pay good attention to my aquarium and fish but I just noticed something weird. Literally overnight it looks like he grew a tooth!!! He has what looks like one big tooth on the bottom jaw! I had seen its row of little teeth on the top but had never seen anything on the bottom. Does anyone know if this is normal? Do they grow big teeth like that? ???

Eaten eggs are not funny. But my mothers response was. I just discovered a couple of eggs in my tank the other day. Unfortunantley they were in an area I just could not reach. I have a tall show tank. So I hoped these would stay untouched as it looked as other eggs may have been eatened already as there were only two eggs by the look of it. As none of the stores here had any available live plants I had to get a few fake ones. If the eggs hatched maybe I had enough cover for the fry. Well since I planted the fake ones a few hours ago, my fish have really been exploring the tank. Especially my Dwarf Gourami. Well a few minutes ago I looked in on the eggs and they're gone. My mother came out and looked to where the eggs were too. And who should be in the area where the eggs were? Blue. My Dwarf Gourami. And what does my mother do? She gets upset at Blue and calls her a bad fish and says she needs to have her fins spanked. :anim_63:

My good friend chelsea has a roomie who recently purchased a few white cloud minnows. Well, it seems the employee at that pet store is not the best at netting, because he accidentally threw in a ghost shrimp and a fry of unknown origins.

My friend seperated the fry from the white clouds, and put him in his own wee bowl. She has asked me what to do with him... I told her to feed him baby brine shrimp, but I have NO experience with fry at all, and that was all I knew. Anything else to tell her?
