I lost a female ram last Tuesday. The pair had started spawning but no success. Then one day she was dead and there was a small hole in her side. Now the ram has a red mark on. I do a 50% water change each week and ammonia is 0. Maybe the test strip isn't working but it says 0. I don't have test strips for the other water parameter. The other fish I have in there are 1 discus and 5 angels, 4 rainbows and 1 cardinal tetra. Also a buch of annoying snails. So what do you guys think is wrong with the ram.

I am starting over on my 20 gallon and waiting for it to cycle. i know i want to try my luck with breeding something other than livebearers and i am going to do cichlids. i just cant decide what to breed. i was thinking either german blue rams, convicts(probably not though because of size), or kribensis. any help on which i should get or any other suggestions would be great. thanks.

i just bought a blue ram three days ago and he has hardly eaten at all. randomly he will grab a flake during feeding time, but he usually spits it out. i have tried frozen brine shrimp, but he does the same thing. i have tried freeze dried baby shrimp, shrimp pellets, three different flake foods, cichlid pellets(which is what he was fed in the store), tetra granules, frozen brine shrimp, and frozen blood worms. Everytime i put food in the tank, it is different. He just doesn't seem to show any interest during feeding time. There are an ample amount of hiding places and the tank is heavily planted (he is in my 29 gallon). He is also in my computer room where there isn't much activity. i did a water change an hour before i got him and i did one today(three days later) and the parameters are ok. The other fish in the tank are peacefull and there hasn't been any territorial issues because none of the fish had any staked territories before he was added. any suggestions on how to get him to eat?

Hello, I have 2 ram cichlids. The one I have had for a couple of months (a yellow) and another around a month (a blue). Anyways, the blue ram is a very picky eater! He eats a little bit of flake sometimes, but not shrimp pellets (he used to pick at them) or tropical fish pellets. What could I feed him? Thanks!
