maidenhead aquatics - Carlisle, UK

Tank conditions: All the tanks at this store were clean, filtered, and heated when tropical fish were in them. All the fish were with suitable tank mates, and no fish were in tanks that were too small for them. No algea was growing in any of the tanks. There was no shelter for the fish, they had no where to take cover too, but other than that, no bad comments. 8/10

Fish health: There were no sick or injured fish apart from one betta which had torn fins. I asked about it, and aparently a trainee member of staff had put it in with some fish that had nipped it. The "non-trainee" staff quickly realised and moved it to an empty tank so it could recover. They didn't put it back up for sale until its fins had healed, so the fish health at the maidenhead aquatics store is very good. 10/10

Fish Selection: There is a very wide variety of coldwater goldfishes and tropical freshwater fish. The most popular are almost always in stock. Although, there are no saltwater fish apart from a large display at the front of the shop. Some less common freshwater fish and goldfish aren't available. Simple needs are met, but more complex fish like saltwater fish, and less common fish are not stocked most/all of the time. But, there is still quite a variety of freshwater available. 6/10

Staff: I give the staff a hats off! Nothing they ever advised me to do was wrong. They even told me about the nitrogen cycle, and wouldn't let me buy any fish for atleast a week. After i cycled the tank i brought in a jar of tank water and they tested the water to make sure it was safe for fish, which it was. They only let me buy the correct number of fish at a time. They always ask me if i need help. They can answer any of the questions i come up with about any of the fish, and they can name good brands of tank care products of the top of their head. The one thing they need to look out for is trainees, one of the trainees was very careless (see fish health) otherwise, the real staff are excellent 9/10

Location, Information: address: Houghton hall Garden centre, Houghton, Carlisle, CA6 4JB. (Cumbria, England, UK) Tel: 01228 597 777 Fax: 01228 544545 See: www.fishkeeper.co.uk

Other products at MA: Maidenhead Aquatics also sell test kits, fish food, tanks, plants, rocks, and all tank decor in general. They sell books about caring for fish, designer tank decor, and basically anything you can buy for a tank, we'd be here for ages if i listed it all! 10/10 (they have everything you need)

Overall: I give maidenhead aquatics an 8/10 score, the staff are helpful and informative, the fish are healthy, and well-cared for, there are plenty of products to choose from, but there needs to be saltwater fish for it to earn a perfect 10/10

a round of applause for maidenhead aquatics!

all the maidenhead aquatics have a good Reputation. One of the main members at WWW.Loaches.com works at Maidenhead aquatics in Peterborough and from the pictures I've seen it is awesome.
