To Breed or Not to Breed...

Hey

I am getting some endlers next week from a mate who has bred them Questions is should i just take males to begin with and see how i get on or should i get one or two females also. I have never bred fish before but would love to try!!

I have 9 neon tetras and 2 plecos in my 80L tank. Only ornament is large sunken galleon. See pic. I did have some vallus plants but they attracted algae something teribble so removed. Not a fan of plastic plants.

Cheers

Hello and Welcome to Fish Lore! Glad you came aboard! Personally I think your tank (love the galleon by the way!) is fully stocked. Pleco's are huge waste producers and depending on what type you have they can grow up to 18" or more. If the one's you have are common Pleco's I would consider returning them or giving them to a friend with a larger tank. This would give you room for some Endlers and possibly some Cory Cats for your bottom dwellers. (?)

I believe the ratio for male to female live bearers is 1 male to 3 females.

Best of luck to you and your fish whatever you decide. Thanks for sharing your tank with us. We love pictures around here. By all means keep us posted.
Have fun and enjoy the site!
