He is a Calico Ranchu.
As with all my goldfish he was purchased from Steve at Raingarden
He is a gorgeous little friend, always trucking around. And when he sees food that is coming down on the other side of the tank... HOLY can he dart! Blink and you miss him.
Otherwise he just swims around with his cute little butt wiggle.
He likes swimming circles around the decorations, making figure 8 patterns and such XD
He also likes trying to swim against the filter current.
Meeko has a bit of a problem though. When he was shipped the long flight from Hawaii to Alberta, he must have gotten a little jostled. I talked a bunch with Steve, and he assured me that he was 100% healthy when he left.
When he came he was floating. Head down tail up.
I was so upset and panicked of swim bladder disorder that I tried every fix in the book.
I realized that from being fasted before a flight, and all good before he left, and then arrived with this problem, that he probably sustained an injury in travel.
He doesn't seem to mind too much though! It is sad to see him float every once in a while, but he gets by!
He is still one of the best swimmers in my tank, it is just when he stops swimming that his head drops, and he slowly floats to the top.
He's figured out ways to sleep at night, and really doesn't let it bother him.
He is the only one that is too afraid to eat from my hands when I feed them, but we have developed a system and he is quite happy.
He is around 4cm right now, and I really can't wait for this little guy to grow up and have a nice big wen!

He has grown up so much in the 3 months since those pictures, his head is already more rounder!
