| Watching them breed! Hello all -
I got a pair of dwarf gouramis 5 days ago and its been very interesting. The first day they were scared and didn't do much. The second and third day the male worked on his nest but when I cleaned the tank and changed the water his nests got destroyed. He wasn't to upset, just started anew. Yesterday and today he built quite a nice bubble nest and about half an hour ago i watched as they did their embrace and she released eggs... They've been doing it every since about every 5 - 8 min. They actually just did it as i typed my last sentence. Anyway, I can see the eggs after she releases them and I'm 99% sure the male is eating them all. I think he needs to sort out his priorities lol. My angelfish has figured it out too and he is enjoying the treat. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few eggs float into the bubble nest despite not being put there by him. Here they ago again haha... so hopefully a few fry survive his feast and I can try to start raising them! |
