female gouramis

does any one have a link or a picture of where I can see a female dwarf gourami. I want to get a male and female and I want to see a female so I can see the difference. Thank you

Re: female gouramis

I have read that the females are a little duller in color than the males. I haven't seen any pics though.

Re: female gouramis

Check out this page, half way down there is a pic of a male followed by the pic of the female. It looks pretty easy to tell them apart if you look at the dorsal fin (the one on top).

Re: female gouramis

Wow, I see the difference in the fin will probably help me out better than the color. Thank you!

Re: female gouramis

Color and fin shape. Males are brighter and have a pointed dorsal fin. Females are noticably less colorful and have rounded tips to their dorsal fin.

Re: female gouramis

It also seems like the female dorsal fins are shorter, is this true?

Re: female gouramis

This is a female dwarf gourami and there is also a pic of the male one at the end. I've got 2 of those with A male. First I had only one female with the male and he started getting aggressive and attacking the female. I've put her in a breeder for 3 days until she recovered and then put the male in the breeder instead of the female as a punishment for his behaviour, I'm planning to keep him there for 2 weeks. How can you tell if a female gourami is pregnant please? thanks
