Chandler [RIP]

My poor male DG died this morning and i have no idea why. I only bought him some females to cheer him up about a week ago and he was larging it for about 3 days then he seemed to go quiet again. When i bought the girls i also did a small water change before i put them in and i cleaned the filter (did it all correctly with tank water and stuff) so i did not feed the fish for a few days and had only just started feeding them properly before he died.

How long does it take for a fish to starve, coz he always seemed hungry and im worried he may have died of hunger or something but he did always eat the junk in the tank too and some plants!! So i am unsure.

A girl DG died a day after i got them which left me with two, but i think she just managed to ram herself behind the bubble wall and a rock so that couldnt be helped. SO now i have 2 female DG's which act really oddly towards eachother too, they kind of go mouth to tail against each other and 'waft' i guess its terrotorial but still, also they 'kiss' each other like kissing gouramis do and i think this is also aggression/terrotorial.

SHould i get another boy or not
ANy comments much appreciated!

Re: Chandler [RIP]

The male might help keep the female in check as they won't have time to worry about each other, they have to keep away from the hound dog. It's my understanding that the proper ratio is 1 male to 2 females anyway. I'm just getting into Dwarf Gouramis' myself but I'm only planning on getting a single male to be the star of the tank and hoping he doesn't get too lonely with all of the other fish in with him. So this is just from what I've been reading about them. And I'm sorry to hear about poor Chandler!
