buddies or foes?

I have heard varying info on these two questions, thought I would put it past you guys.
1)can you put a blue dwarf gourami in a 30 gallon community tank that has 2 honey G's in it? (my LFS says no problem, they keep their blues and honeys together, but for how long I am not sure)

2)Are blue dwarf G's difficult to keep (again my LFS says not really, a rather vague answer if you ask me!)

I can only answer #2.
Personally, I'd stay away from DG's (Colisa lalia). My experience with them hasn't been terrific. They're prone to bacterial infections and especially susceptible to the incurable Dwarf Gourami disease.
Sad, they're gorgeous friendly fish.

Okay, thank you Lucy. As you know I am looking for same blue in my tank, and have grown enamoured with my honeys, thought a blue would be a nice addition. Don't want a fish that is prone to disease...the search continues....

Maybe a couple of guppies? I'm not sure how much more room you have in your tank.
Cardinals are really pretty, but I don't think you have room for a nice school.

Yes I may have to go for the guppy choice after all, not that I mind I was just thinking about if I had any other options, I know there is not much room left in my tank. The other issue is algae (posted on a different thread) so I may just have to make my choice of something that will help to eat it rather than the blue I would like. Time for a bigger tank?!?(oh no is MTS setting in??)
