2 dwarf gourami

I have had 2 male dwarf gourami for about a month in a 55 gal tank. I have it moderately planted (I'll post a pic in a bit) with fake plants. I am new, I went to petsmart and saw these guys and had to get them.. of course I wasn't told about their incompatibility. Do they ever eventually leave each other alone? My red one is definitely dominant over the blue, is there a way they can coexist?

I've never had any luck with multiple gouramis.

Yeah I like to think of gouramis as a solitary fish in a community tank(meaning only one gourami).

I wish it were different, I would love to have a whole tank full of them.

Hello Breese. Sorry to say that I can't recall any fish stories of two Gourami's getting along in the same tank for very long. If the problems persist then I would suggest separating them or possibly even returning one I'm sure you'll do what is best for your fish.

The only time I was able to successfully keep multiple dwarf gouramis was with honey gouramis. IME they have a muchmore peaceful disposition, similar to pearl gouramis. Or you could try a group of sparkling gouramis - they don't really "school", but they get along fine in larger groups.

Yeah, I am going to return one. Was just wondering if there was ever any sucess stories but from all the threads and experienced guys like yourself saying it wont work I see the writing on the wall. I'm thinking I am going to keep the less dominant one although neither of them bother my other fish. Plus he's blue and looks cooler imo. Thanks for the advice once again everyone!!
