Shy Gourami

I have a red dwarf gourami which is mostly hiding and only coming out on rare occasions. When he does he seems active enough but most of the time I don't see him out. He seems to be hiding in among some plants or behind a ruin. Is this normal behavior?

Is this the one you just got? If so he's probably just settling in.
