| | Fish Keeper | omg he's spitting?? I didn't know they did that! We were eating dinner (which is right near the tank), and he spit a few streams of water up through the surface.
Now I'm completely gourami addicted. It was just too cool. Why do they do that? |

| | Moderator | Some fish do that to knock insects out of the air so they can eat then
They will also do this when they have eggs/fry in a bubble nest to keep them in the bubble nest

| | Fish Keeper | Very cool. I've never seen an anabantid spit before, although I've seen this behavior from SW puffers in the past. He must be very happy in your tank. Great job! |

| | Fish Bum | One of mine have does all the time. He spits a stream out of the water up about 2 inches. I didnt think anything of it and thought it was normal because I see him on top of the tank building nests and spitting all the time. Next time I see him doing that I will be sure and try to record it.

| | Fish Keeper | Hehe, my gourami does that too. Usually if there's any plant matter floating around he will squirt it onto the glass above the water line. Thanks to him, I have a crud filled corner of my tank, but at least it keeps the water clean. |
