I was thinking about getting a dwarf gourami for my tank. The tank water is always 78-80 degress, however the room it is in can get quite cool in the winter, sometimes into the low 60s on particularly cool days. I read that since the gourami is a labyrinth fish, it can be affected by the cool air temperature. Should I reconsider getting one because of this?

I've never heard that before, so don't take my word on this, but here is my . If your aquarium is covered and has lights then you should be okay. If you open your hood and stick your hand in it's warmer than the air in the room (at least mine is), so that air pocket at the top is warmer than the surrounding air, so it should be alright.

Like I said, just my own deductive reasoning.

I read your description, and I didn't see "heater" inside your description.

If you have an aquarium hood like the other user said, you should try that.

Do you have a central heating system inside your home?

Also, gouramis come from India. VERY VERY hot country in the summers. So that's why they are so beautiful heheh xD that's what I think

So anyways. If you don't have a heater and rely on your home heat, you should go and buy a aquarium heater.
