One of the two long pelvic fins on my mom's gourami is really short.
I thought one of the other fish could have bit it off, but she said that the same thing happend to her catfish before it died.

Could it be an infection of some sort?
Or is it just the other fish nipping at him?

It's possible that it is fin rot or some sort of injury, but... my betta chewed one of his off early in July, and really when they get fin rot it seems to spread more evenly rather than take out just one fin. Is there any way you can post photos? And water parameters?

In the meantime, frequent water changes just in case, and some garlic juice on his food will help him start to heal.
