Keeping Dwarf Gouramis

Hi Gang

I am slowly in the process of stocking my new tank (4 weeks old). I currently have 6 neon raindbow fish. I would like to add (slowly):

12 x Ember Tetras
6 x Panda Corys

then I'd like to add some Dwarf Gouramis as my centre piece fish. I was thinking about adding 4 of them, but different coloured ones. Would I add them in two pairs of 1 of each sex i.e. two Honey gouramis & two Flame Dwarfs? Or could I add 4 different coloured ones?

Thanks in advance for your advice on this

How big is the tank? Your plans would max out most starter tanks!! Have you had your cycle yet?

Sorry didnt add tank stats to post as its in my profile. My tank stats are:

Dimensions 92 x 35 x 55cm/36" x 14" x 22
Volume 177 l./39 gal. (46.76 US gal.)
Probable volume 159 l./35 gal. (42 US gal.)

Its a bit bigger than a starter tank

Yes, the tank went thru a fishless cycle which took just over three weeks.

Thats still a good bit of fish. Yes, that is bigger than a starter! I would add two at a time and you could mix and match, but I have found species prefer their species better. Just my experience. Watch your cycle...I'm sure you already know!

take your time

i started my tank in january and only just added two gouramis this week. i am getting panda corys too they are so pretty but decided to wait til tank well established as heard they are bit sensitive sometimes. was going to get them before gouramis but the have not been in recently, the guy in my fish store is getting some for me soon, very good place and he will only get very healthy fish from good dealer so i am happy to wait.

even though it is ideal to maybe add two fish at a time, if they are shoaling fish it is prob ok to add more like 4-6 at a time as they dont like when not in a group. just keep an eye on your water conditions
