From what I read in my gospel of fish ID book, is this:
The scientific name of the smallest member of the genus;
Colisa has oscillated over time, with current opinion settling on
Colisa Chuna. The Honey Gourami is different from the other
Colisa species in that it lacks oblique body bands. (Such as the
Colisa Lali, which we know as the popular d.gourami neons.) The golden, peach, and mottled varieties are frequently available. Which would include the Sunset in this family.
The
synonym name is:
Colisa Sota. So in my opinion, these two names, the
Chuna and Sota...both refer to one and the same type of Gourami. The Honey Gourami.
Yes, they can breed together and still be a Honey Gourami, I believe your friend gave you the correct info.

Now, If your golden and blue Gourami have two black spots on its sides then they are not considered D.Gouramis and are in another class of Gourami that grow up to 6 inches but usually are a bit smaller.
