Do the male dwarf gouramis rule here?

Is it true that only male dwarf gourami's have color?? Ive been reading on them, as I have a fire red and a yellow one...would I be correct to assume they are both males? (too much testosterone in my tank i think?)

I don't know if saying that only males have color would be a correct statment....I think a more correct statement would be that females are less colorful than the males within the same species of Dwarf Gourami.

what he's saying is... a male blue gourami will be a darker brighter blue than the female... etc. you'll kinda have to look at pictures on line of males & females within your color group to know for sure.

But 2 males is not really a problem, Sunstrip & I have 2 males, a sunset and a blue and they get along fine.

I think my wife may have misspoken...the Blue has simply learned his place in the tank....the Sunset rulz him...as a rule...do not put 2 males together in a smaller tank....there will be problems...and one will end up miserable....in a larger tank...they will establish there own territory away from each other.

What constitutes a smaller tank? I am floundering back in forth between 1 or 2 for my 30 gallon tank.

In my opinion 2 in a 30 gallon tank should be fine. Try and get 2 that are the same size and put them in at the same time.
