my god these guys are shy

but when he does come out of hiding its fun to watch him because he explores all the nooks and crannies of the aquarium...going in and out of caves etc.....

only thing i worry about is he's not getting enough food. my danios and white clouds are like little frenzied sharks when it comes to feeding time and eat up all the food. i throw a couple shrimp pellets on the bottom for my new gourami hoping its enough to keep him fed.

how long until they warm up to the tank? he's only been in it a couple days but still hides most of the time...especially when its feeding time. they good bottom scavengers? i do notice him picking at what seems to be food on the bottom sometimes. such a beautifull fish i hate to have to return him.

Hi!

I'm afraid he can't compete for food with Danios and Minnows. I'm afraid you will have to return him. Please ask us before buying fish!

My dwarf gourami eats part of the algae wafers I throw in for my cories. Even you really want to keep him, I would suggest tring that.

much thanks....my worries have subsided though and i'm actually considering changing his name to mr piggy. he went from shy corner dweller to hanging out under the lid waiting for me to feed him. he has no problems competing for food anymore either. he dashes to the top when he hears the lid open if he doesn't see me, and all the other fish give him plenty of room to eat.

he swallows blood worms like theres no tomorrow. amazing transformation. i guess he just needed to get used to his new surroundings. he actually gets along very well with the white clouds and danios. they just seem to avoid each other pretty much. fun watching him now as he loves to explore all the nooks and crannies in the tank. he's found several favorite caves to hang out in.

Cool. Good to hear. My dominant male likes to do the same thing. He has taken for my flower pot cave. Hopefully he doesn't become aggressive.

I've just added a couple of Dwarf Gourami's (one male, one female; judging from colours) and they seem to be doing exactly the same thing. I'm fairly confident they just need to settle as I had Angelfish and they displayed the same behaviour initially before becoming very active. Do the experts agree/disagree/believe am i an idiot? =P
