3 Dwarfs...and what???

I want to get 3 dwarfs for my 10 gal. tank (1 male, 2 females) and was wondering if i could put in anything else? what kind of hiding places would i need? How many?

Thanks!

That's about all you can get into that tank.

Hi!

That's a dodgey combo in a small tank. The male is likely to start bubble nesting - and you'll need to take the females OUT OF THERE! In a small tank, a male D.gourami can harass the females to no end.

It's not so much the male/female thing (as I pointed out in another thread, this is mostly a livebearer issue), it's that dwarfs tend to not do well together in small tanks. All of the labyrinth fish have a territorial instinct that seems to be at least partly based on something other than sight, and I'm guessing that the problem becomes compounded in a small tank (for example, if it's a chemical smell, it gets concentrated in a small amount).
So it might be a good idea to remove one or two of the inhabitants, but we don't like to deal in absolutes around here except when something is a really, really bad idea (like cramming an Oscar in a 5g tank).

Hi!

I've personally had bad experience in this area - my Dwarf male started Bubble-nesting in quarantine and long story short it came round to females in the corner. But interesting point.
