I have a recently cycled 10 gal. aquarium that the biology dept at our HS has given me for my classroom. It currently contains 2 male neon dwarfs, who seem to be getting along fine thus far (2 wks.) I would like to add 2 or 3 serpae tetras to round out the tank. Good idea or not

Aggression wise they should get along. It is the bioload you are pushing with that number of those fish. You -should- be alright as long as you do weekly waterchanges of ATLEATS 25%, have proper filtration, and DO NOT overfeed the tank.

I had STs for a very short time. I returned them to the LFS. I had them in a community tank, and had them in a larger school of 6, and found that they were still very nippy. I also found that since they are quick swimmers they often made it to the food before my gourami did.

Agree that STs are fin nippers. I would put something smaller and more peaceful in the tank, like 5 Neon tetras.
