Why is my female gourami shy? She stays hidden in one the ornaments and only comes out to eat.

How long have you had her? in what size tank? and what other fish are there in the tank?

Ok it is probably because you don't have many plants, dwarves like somewhere to hide so maybe look at getting some real or fake plants for her to hide in.

Well, mine was shy for a week than she got a red swolen eye and I treated her. Now she is doing fine and getting agressive .... towards neons. No more shy girl.
She is atacking the droper I use to feed the ADF too. Her apetite has no limits !
She like caves but just to swimm in and out looking for food. She is eating everybody's food even the algae pelets ..... which makes her look like a baloon.
But that's just my luck with fishes ..... I got the mental ones.

Dwarf gouramis are generally aggressive. Mine chase the Black tetras, but don't get them, lucky.
