furry bogwood

Can anybody help me with an explanation of a white fur like growth on pieces of bog wood. I have had the bogwood soaking for 4 weeks or more emptying tanned coloured water on a regular basis all seemed fine, but as soon as it was placed in the tank (which was cycled) after about twenty four hours it has got this growth on it, is it harmful to the fish or any thing else in the tank? fully planted as well. I have danio's, rainbow fish and ancistrus cat fish, if it is an algae what fish or other methods are there to rid me of this problem? thanks for any help. ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 5 pH 7.6. temp 75.5. Tank size 200 ltrs, new set up fishless cycle, first feed was dry fish food and populated with fish today 6/9/09.

Hmmmm I think it can be that white hair algae.

Good morning. I had the same issues when I had Cypress stumps in my 155g years ago. It is white hair algae as mentioned above. You can just wipe it off, some fish will eat it. Too, don't be surprised if it returns. It needs to run its course before it finally goes away. Very common in newly established tanks.
Have a good day today!

Pleased to report that all fur has now gone I presume by two catfish and a red tailed black shark as they were all over it for about 3/4 days. Thanks for your help.
