Floating DriftWood

I have a beautiful piece of drift wood I want to use in my new tank...
But it floats...
Ive bleach soaked it and im putting it through the rinsing now... But...

What problems will this give me?
I can get it to stay down cause it doesnt float bad but are their any biological or chemical problems this will cause?

Need response quickly!
Thanks everybody... I will post pics of my 55g soon after I finish decking it out.

Hello and welcome to fishlore
My concern is the bleach bath that you used. How much bleach and to what ratio to water was added? I would rinse and rinse and rinse some more, boil... rinse some more... and then.. rinse some more lol..
The bleach would make me very nervous and I have used found driftwood in my tanks as well, but never used bleach.
To get the wood water logged may take awhile, and I just add heavy rocks on top of the wood til the day I dont need them anymore to weigh the wood down. Depends on the type of wood how long it may take.

Hi Welcome to Fish Lore

You'll find some suggestions for weighing down driftwood in this thread:
Driftwood Notes
Driftwood can lower your pH, here's some info about it.Driftwood Basics

Good luck, hope to see some pics soon.

Well... i read on a diff thread that you could bleach just rinse till their is no bleach and then do a dechlor etc bath...

but im wondering If I just weigh the wood down would it be ok?

will it affect the tank in any way because it floats?
obviously theirs something different about it then the typical drift wood you buy that sinks...

Yes, others have used bleach when cleaning driftwood, but you want to only use a little bit and I dont know how much you used. The important thing is to make absolutely sure you have rinsed out all the bleach.
I personally would not want my driftwood to float at the top of the tank, and I always end up putting rocks on top to hold it down. Do you know what kind of driftwood you are using?

Use a piece of slate and drill a hole through it.
Take a stainless steel screw, drive the screw through the slate and into the wood
at a flat place on the bottom side of the wood.
Put the wood and slate into the tank and cover the slate with substrate.
If it still wants to float, place some rocks on the slate to help weight it down.
