mopani driftwood won't stay on bottom

I bought a piece of this wood 3 months ago and have it in my 72 gal. tank and it sits nicely on the bottom and I had no problems. I recently got a 29 gal tank and returned to the same LFS and bought the same piece . it's almost identical but it won't stay on bottom, it floats. Can anyone tell me why or what to do to fix this problem

My first thought is to ask the LFS you bought it from if they changed vendors. I have no experience with this type of wood, only driftwood. You can just attach the wood to a heavy stone or the like to sink it.
THough, you paid for the wood so I would guess you want a better explaination, I don't have it

Most driftwood has to soak for a few weeks or boil/soak to stay at the bottom...

..You may know this but it is not mentioned. Did the water change a funky tint after you placed it..?

usually mopani is priced a little higher and if its not sinking right away like its supposed to i would return it. unless you really like the formation you picked out.

Good morning. You can take aquarium safe silicone and attach it to a piece of slate to keep it on the bottom. Let it cure for about 48 hours before you add it back to the tank.

I just bought some mopani for that reason, I wanted to sink it right away and have it stay down. It's still in a bucket soaking, but sunk right down to the bottom.

So unless you really like the piece, or are willing to attach some slate to it as Aquarist suggested, you may want to take it back and get another.
