id on driftwood. ahh im excited!

could you please help me id this wood before i begin the process of cleaning it. I found it in a creek near my home and almost died in the process( almost tangled with a copperhead) yikes! ill put up some pics.

I would be very careful, because things could be living in it. For most driftwood, people buy it, and its been cured, though I'm not sure what that does..

I have been researching driftwood for the past couple of days.
From what i understand as long as you "sterilize" it correctly and are prepared to deal with the tannins you are good to go. I was just wanting to make sure it is a hardwood. It already sinks.
