HI; Will this wood drop the pH if it is cured and boiled? i heard that if boiled and all the tannins rinsed and gone it would not drop the ph-true or not true. thanks in advance bella

I've been doing some reading about this. I've seen it suggested that driftwood will lower your ph however I've also read that the tannic acid in drift wood is what causes the ph to drop. Theoretically if you get rid of the tannis it shouldn't effect your ph too much.
Bella, don't take this as fact, I don't have personal experience with it, it's only what I've read recently since I have driftwood soaking now.

Any effects it would have are usually minimal..depending on the amount of driftwood. Since it (the tannins)leach out of the wood slowly, your water changes would make it nearly un-noticable. Don't worry it is slow. PH will not crash or anything close to that. Continue normal water changes and all will be fine.

Any tannins that leech out will not affect your PH any subtle changes will be more than covered by your water changes so you have no need to worry there.

Just as an FYI Mopani in not driftwood it is actually a tree from the african plains that has been sculpted and inhabited by termites, they eat out the heart wood and what you put in your tank is the bark and outer core that is left.
