Driftwood making my water red/brown

Hi there guys! I"m not sure if this under the right category... I hope so

Well I got my hands on these awesome driftwood! It is absolutely AWESOME!! BUT... it turns my water a red-ish brown color. I soaked it for a whole day then scrubbed it down and left it in the sun for another whole day and then soaked it again.. but still... the red-is brown color.
What can I do to sort this out? Boil the driftwood?

i so badly want to use it... but I cannot live with the color. It does not affect the fish at all... but it does not look so good.

please help?

I turned the one upside down so you guys can see what the under/inside looks like (a dark red color)

Awesome pieces of wood. You can soak them and change the water every day until the tannins quit leeching out or you can put it in your tank and live with it until the tannins quit leeching out LOL Just depends on what you can temporarily live with.

What if it takes 6 months? LOL! Any way to speed up the process?

I would think soaking them in a bucket or something you can immerse them in and change the water about every day or so would speed it up. Boiling might speed it up but it's not going to be a fast process no matter which method you choose. Sorry

Gorgeous driftwood! I've always wanted some, but my only tank that's big enough is brackish...

Oh yeah and the salt will sort of make the wood disintegrate hey?
