Where to get some good driftwood?

I haven't seen any driftwood that i like @ petco or any LFS yet...

so, does anyone have any suggestions on where to get good driftwood?

You could pick some up outside such as in parks or forests. Thats what I'd do. They're free and all you have to do is just scrub and clean them.

Be VERY careful with objects from 'nature'. I got mopani wood at petsmart.

Around here, Park Rangers and the like get a little miffy with you when you try to remove anything from the parks and forests because it's illegal.
Maybe make sure you are searching in a "non-protected" area?

Yeah thats cause your in Malaysia! You have the best selection in your backyard!

Also, you NEED to boil any wood you might find to sterilize it. I would also suggest soaking it for several days after you boil it unless you like tea colored water. I had a bad experience from a piece that simply could not be anchored down, so sinking driftwood is a good idea. They sell a bunch on ebay and aquabid that look good, just do your research.

I go poke around the Lake here. Its usually down quite a few feet towards to winter months and theres all sorts of goodies along the bank. Just gotta wash it really good.

Yeah, that's true. Not exactly in my backyard. I normally find some in a public park near my house (with playgrounds, soccer fields, etc...). The driftwoods are normally nice and wet (it rains almost everyday here) but seldom clean (crawling with ants).
