Do plecos NEED driftwood?

hey, the questin here is does any kind of pleco speifically NEED to have driftwood in their tank, or will they be fine without it? Thanks!

I am pretty sure that there are certain types of plecos that do need it. I know that www.planetcatfish.com is considered all knowing when it comes to plecos...

That's true, it varies from species to species. It's definitely good for them though and ours are always on theirs.

I have a smaller piece , and i have a pleco , they don't pay any mind to it ! mine usually stay around the heater !

There is a substance called Lignan in the wood that most plecs need for digestion. i think they like the goodies growing on it also

Bet he takes a nibble at night
Larger plecs even leave rasp marks on wood after a time.
