My Dojo Loach...

I bought a Dojo Loach recently and just love him!! He's quiet most during the day but at night he's more active. Soon as give food to the fish his all over the tank looking for the food and i find it thrilling to watch! I was thing maybe i could swap my pleco for two more of the loaches if they eat algae? My pleco doesnt seem to be doing a good job of it lately...
Thanks

Re: My Dojo Loach...

Two things, the loach is a clod water fish and belongs in coldwater. Second, the loaches don't eat algae.

What will happen if he stays in a heated tank? his in one now and seems fine, they had him in one at the petstore too.

They have a recommended temp range of 68-76f...But my friend has had several in his tropical tank at 78f for several years with no problem...However they don't eat algae...They're largely carnivorous. If the rest of your fish can tolerate cooler water, gradually adjust your temp to be 76-77 degrees and I'd bet you'd be fine....

Re: My Dojo Loach...

This is strange... I gues maybe each country has there own ways, I've been reading on them and from what i read they can handle extreme temps etc. But yes they dont eat algae so i wont get any more.

Dojo loaches are tropical fish, but they enjoy cooler waters and can be kept in coldwater aquariums too.
