Dojo loaches would rapidly outgrow either of those sizes. They get up to around 10" in length, need to be in groups, and can be fairly active (i.e. need space).

i agree with mathas, also they are coldwater fish (like goldfish) and wont do well in a tropical tank

Really? I see them in tropical tanks quite often. Thanks for the warning.

yeah, they are normally accidentally kept in tropical tanks, but dojo (or weather) loaches prefer about 64-72 (it says 50-77 on the site but they thrive best around 68 i think). when i eventually get my 180 shubunkin goldie tank i'll probably have some weather loaches

I did not know that either. Did a little research, and like with other temperate fish (goldfish, koi), it shaves off more than half of the dojo loach's life to be in a tropical tank. They can live for 10 years in a temperate tank, and only around 4 in a tropical.

I have three in a 75g tank and the temp is at the bottom range of the other fish and at the top of theirs. Their range is 50-77F. The tank stays about 76-77F. They seem to be doing well but they do get large and need lots of room to swim as they are very active. Here's some more information for you
