Found me a fur baby!

Its half chi and half jack russell, my husband didn't want a chi, and I still love both breeds, and so its just perfect

Now big question, I want to be able to train this little girl right, how do the crates do for them
we need to get her house broken, and as normal from chewing on stuff... .I can take her ouside on a leash to do the doodles...

ohhh!!!!!!!!

congratulations!!!!!!! on your new baby

get busy

crate training should be fine. get a good size crate. put a comfy pillow or towel in there. at night put pup in there, IN YOUR BEDROOM, so she can smell you and bond as well. first thing in the morning, let her out and straight outside to potty before anything else.
come up with a word you want use for potty, like potty potty or pee poo and say it over and over while she's going.

every time she wakes up from a nap, in or out of the crate, or after eating and after playing hard, take her out and say the same words over and over.

soon she'll know what you want and when.

if she crys in the crate at night, knock hard on it and say in a firm voice,
QUIET!!

if she's a baby, put a favorite toy or your smelly tee shirt in there with her for something familiar.

good luck!!!

This is a system that my parents have used (or something very close to it) to train their dog.

its best to get the dog used to the crate from the start . my pup actually loves his he wants in it alot.. and if i growl at him for chewing something , the first place he goes if its not behind my hubby's legs , he will then run for the crate! the crate is a godsend actually...when he wasn't in one so far he has chewed several spots on our headboard and footboard which was new he even has chewed on the corner of the wall and the bottom of my wooden fishtank stand...so even though i have never had to use a crate for a dog before of which there were many! i definately praise the use of them now..

awwww I cant wait to see pics!! whats her name?? all the advice you have gotten is great...id just like to add to never ever let the kids go in the crate...thats her safe haven and something that only belongs to her...she will always feel safe in it once shes trained...and if ever has the need to escape, she knows no one else will bother her....goodlucK!

I used a large cardboard box for a dog I had many years ago...lol I would never have a pup now without crate training it. Even in the box Lucy was so much easier than running around the house. Only in it for nights and when we were busy and couldn't watch her. She never seemed to mind after she got used to it .

Congrats on your new baby!!! I can't wait to see pics. We just got our dog Jeffrey a couple months ago. He was potty trained, but not crate trained. At first he was afraid to go in the crate. Now he loves it and will go in there by himself. Most people use crates to potty train dogs, but we use ours because he gets really bad seperation anxiety and will chew everything in site if we leave him by himself. Even if she is not comfortable with the crate at first, just keep putting her in it, and she will eventually be fine in there.

After the last jack we had a crate will be my only choice for her, I am going to have to wait until next week to get it though (after dh bought a new gun... and I took advantage of the no sales tax on clothes, I just spent way to much this week... I got her the basics, a little pad that will go in her crate, a collar, and a leash (and of coarse a pack of doggie treats for praising her and her food)....

Our jack would go balistic when left alone and tear everything up, from the separation. so we will use the crate to avoid that destruction.

We have named her Molly

I started to name her Miley (my oldest has a crush on miley cyrus aka hanna montana) and the boys had a hard time saying it... so molly stuck with her... she likes it already and will answer when called.... I think she is just up for anyone that loves her though.

I will def post pics tomm, she is a doll!!
