Good bye old dog

We had to put our 17 year old dog down yesterday.

Actually, he was my mom's. When she passed 6 years ago we took her 2 dogs in. We already had a dog and a cat, but, what the heck, my mom loved her dogs and she knew We would take care of them for her.
We lost the female a couple of years back to heart failure.

This old dog kept plugging along. He was blind and deaf and smelled really bad.....and I DO mean bad. lol

He had stopped eating last Tues. and spent Thurs and Fri. nights at the vets getting fluids. Which seemed to perk him up a bit.

We brought him home Sat. hoping he would rebound a little. He ate a little that night and that was encouraging. But by Sunday he couldn't walk and only ate once.

He didn't seem to be in pain, but it was time he went to be with my mom and his sister.

Good bye old dog.

Hello Lucy
Im so sorry to hear... loosing our beloved dogs in the family can be such heartache. They really are near and dear to our hearts. You did a wonderful thing taking in your Moms dogs after she passed, Im sure her Spirit was comforted by that. Bless you ....

Aww I am so sorry. We had to put down our 17 year old family cat last fall. He was full of diabetes.

Lucy,

I'm sorry for the loss of your beloved companion....I know how hard it is to say goodbye....May he frolic to the rainbow bridge now and play with all the others that arrived before him...

Oh Lucy, I am so sorry to hear this. No doubt it was difficult for you even though he wasn't "your" dog. Like you say, let's hope he went to play with his mom and sister.

I am so sorry for the difficulties you went through with him, and you have my deep sympathies. That must have been so hard, and undoubtedly still so hard a few days later.

My deepest sympathies go out to you, and I salute you for being a caring friend and adopted mom of your mother's beloved dog. May the dear 17-year-old rest in peace with his mom and sister.
