We had to put our 17 year old dog down yesterday.
Actually, he was my mom's. When she passed 6 years ago we took her 2 dogs in. We already had a dog and a cat, but, what the heck, my mom loved her dogs and she knew We would take care of them for her.
We lost the female a couple of years back to heart failure.
This old dog kept plugging along. He was blind and deaf and smelled really bad.....and I DO mean bad. lol
He had stopped eating last Tues. and spent Thurs and Fri. nights at the vets getting fluids. Which seemed to perk him up a bit.
We brought him home Sat. hoping he would rebound a little. He ate a little that night and that was encouraging. But by Sunday he couldn't walk and only ate once.
He didn't seem to be in pain, but it was time he went to be with my mom and his sister.
Good bye old dog.
