| The big T, our poodle 20 minutes ago at age 18. Lived outside most of her life except for hot days and cold night now that she is old. Completely death now, can barely see, very arthritic when off her meds (dog aspirin), and been to the vet only 2 time in her life for ear problems and 1 stroke. Every morning I expect to wake her and get no response. The secret, living outside, dry food only, clean water.

| Actually I attribute it all to her, something I should have learned. She never overate and never ate or chewed strange things, always playful but deliberate in everything she did. In contrast she she helped raise a Welsh Corgey that was 14 year younger only to die after 4 years because had an insatiable appetite for rocks, finally getting one lodged in his esophagus. I think some dogs live long because they have a wisdom.

| I had her on Purina dog chow for years until she got to age 15 then switch to Iams adult dog food but after a year she refused all dry dog food so I started making my own out of boil chicken 50% and 50% wet dog food tainted with aspirin and occasional pain killers when her arthritis flairs up bad on stormy days.
At this stage without the aspirin to stave off further strokes and control inflammation of the joints she would have died already not being able to walk. Pain killer I give her on bad days when she cant walk but always seems to shed 10 years after it kicks in running and jumping, at least for that day. She knows when the medication is in the food and will otherwise not eat it unless its in there and she cleans her plate.
