Does anyone feed their dogs Nutro natural choice dog food?

My husband and I do. My dogs eat the dental natural choice. The last few weeks as far as I know the pet stores have had a shortage of the nutro dog foods mainly natural choice. I called the petsmart we usally go to find out if they had gotten any in because tuesdays is their delivery day. They didn't get all of it in and none of the dental.

This really concerned me and I was beginning to wonder if the dental was being concerned by them. I went on their website last night and found out why their is a shortage. This is what it said:

Can’t Find Your Product?
Due to changes in global commodity markets that affect availability of some of our key ingredients, we’ve experienced isolated shortages in various NATURAL CHOICE® products. We sincerely apologize if you could not find your favorite item on your retailer’s shelves. We anticipate that spot shortages will persist for the next couple of months, however rest assured that we are working very hard to address this problem. Until your product becomes available, here are some alternate diets that we recommend:

I did call a Petco to find out if they had any and they had 1 15 lb bag of it left. SO I asked them to save it for me and I'm going to pick it up today after work.

This really worries me though because they say it could be a couple months before they can get all of the necessary ingredients to make the foods and send them out to the pet stores. They suggest using their other foods, but my dogs no matter how short or how long I wean them on a different food as soon as the the old food is gone they get sick especially my older one. He's too old to be weaned on a food and eat it. He's 6 yrs old and his body is too used to the other stuff to get him on a different food. If I can't find this food I give them after they run out I don't know what I'm going to do.

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know in case their is anyone that feeds them the Nutro Natural Choice and have noticed that there is a shortage of the food I wanted to let everyone know the reasoning behind it all. Natalie

I used to feed that brand to my dogs, but after the dog food made in China scare, I switched to other brands. I've really gotten into the no preservatives foods, and think that switching dog foods for variety has made my dogs even healthier. I try and buy foods that also contain fruits and vegetables. The Evo brand is fantastic but expensive. The Merrick brand is also very good. I just bought a small bag of the Food for the Dog Lover's soul, and they really seem to like it. The solid gold brand is also very good with natural ingredients.

Yea the problem is I can't switch foods on them. They'll get sick. Weaning them doesn't make a bit of difference. They still get sick. Natalie

That's odd. That seems like a separate problem in and of itself. I can understand the older dog having problems switching foods, but even then, they should be able to get used to it eventually.

That's too bad about the company running out. My parents feed their dog a mix of canned, kibble, and homemade, and have been upping the ratio of homemade since the whole China thing happened.

I've seen the signs posted at the store but I've never seen any empty spaces on the shelves.

I'm guessing pet food prices will/have rise right along with people food prices.
*sigh*
I'm just about ready to start cooking at home for the dogs too!
