Is food-grade PP #5 plastic lid safe for aquarium use?

I made a floating aquarium ring (to hold my plants) out of a coffee lid --hard plastic Recycle # 5, PP. I saw it listed as safe on another site where people used tupperware lids for the same purpose... I just want to double check!
Anyone?

yep as long as it's been cleaned good it's fine. I use margarine lids for the same thing

I agree with Carol. If it's food safe and cleaned it should be fine. Thanks for the link Carol!

Hello CaligosKeeper. That looks very nice! Would you tell us how you attached it with what appears to be air line tubing? Too, what is it attached to just the edge of the tank?
Thanks for sharing with us!

Hi Ken, Thanks! It's air line tubing, and a suction cup (like for holding a bubble wand) and I just cut the end of the tubing a bit so that it made loop and then stuck it in the suction cup
