How do I reinforce plastic container?

Hi I am using a plastic box designed for storage so it works as container for a surge bucket device. The thickness of the plastic concerns me as for long term use, specially at the bottom (where I drilled a 2 1/8" diameter hole)

I was thinking of using liquid silicon (dries in 30 seconds, fully cures in 2 hours) to glue a 5/16" corksheet (on the outer side). Would this work out? Is there another way of reinforcing it?

Thanks

If you can get your hands on some apexi glue, it will do the trick!

plumber's putty will work well around your opening.

You could use a cable or something around the top to keep it from deforming too much.

I ended up using liquid silicon glue to adhere a 1/2" corksheet to the bottom of the plastic container. It worked quite well but the weight was too much for the . I'm working in the frame that needs to hold this container (a DIY surge bucket device) so it doesn't crash to the ground (I was lucky to be around when it collapsed so no damage other than a mild water spill occurred).

I'll get some pics on what I did after I return home from work.
