DIY Canister filter with removable media baskets???

Hey yall i am about to undertake my first DIY filter and am quite excited to try it. due to time constraints i will post information now and poorly drawn diagrams later. I wish to make a canister/trickle filter using 5 gallon buckets. i am going to use PVC pipes mixed with the bottoms of other 5 gallon buckets to make removable media trays. Has anyone ever tried this

O also i am trying to see if this could be done first using 4 2 liter soda bottles....MY little brother has a 10 gallon tank and i told him i would build him something

Lol why do you need to buy books? You must be in college or something because that is the only time my brother bought books.

That would have been enough for a 50 gallon saltwater reef setup. Good luck with the filter.
