I have been trying to find answers to glass panel configuration of various size all glass tank construction, more specifically the bottom panel because it is hidden by the bottom framing, how the bottom panel sets or mates in relationship to the 4 side panels and why. Some articles talk about the bottom glass panel fitting inside the perimeter of the 4 side panels while other allude to the 4 side panels sitting on top of the bottom panel. These articles being DIY's posted here and there on the internet. Does anybody with allot of build experience know the difference and why?

Its OK I got my answer. Although I received varying opinions from different sources, even a few from the industry, in a nutshell it goes basically like this:

Both methods I mentioned in my original question are used and apparently they are just two different styles withing the industry with one having a cleaner look then the other but that it, there are no constrains in the use of either method. Good news for someone wanting to replace a broken bottom, now having a choice between each method, one obviously easier then the other..
