Should I use hot glue from the glue gun in my aquarium?

basically the airstone broke so i decided to hot-glue the bit with the holes in it to the airtube. is it safe to put back in the aquarium?

many thanks,
septhen

Unfortunatly no, glue is full of impurities that damamge the environment etc, so personally, I wouldn't, because the ingredients are all man made, and are oil based I do believe.

Good luck

Good morning Septhen. Personally I would be afraid to use it in my aquarium. I have to agree with ABC. If you don't have any other air stones and you don't feel there is enough agitation at the top of the water, lower your water level a bit so the filter makes a nice little splash until you can replace it.

thanks guys - another question: i put the airstone under an arched piece of driftwood and it would spread out like an upside down waterfall and look really pretty.. is there another way i can replicate this?

many thanks, septhen

You can easily buy a new airstone, over here they cost about 50c, I have air stones in all of of tanks, including a huge bubble wand.

The above link is a check valve that really should be attached to your air tubing going to the air pump. It prevents water from being sucked back into the air tubing and into the air pump preventing a flood and tank drainage. I recommend them highly especially if your air pump is lower than the aquarium itself. If the air pump is above the aquarium then you won't have this issue.

You can actually get away with no air stone and just use the air line tubing...place it under a rock or an ornament.

Have a good day today!

Good morning Stephan
I had asked about Hot Glue a while back, here's the thread:
Hot Glue.
In the end, I ended up using aquarium sealant.
