Collecting Mosquitoes?

I have a few questions about mosquitoe catching since I have set up stagnant water boxes for the lil blokes.

Does anyone know how to collect eggs of them? I have seen it done before and was wondering if anyone has a proven method that works

Has anyone else made a mosquito bucket with a built in net that works? that is my model right now.

Thanks

I have a 10g tank sitting outside with nasty water in, i harvest mosquito larva one a day.

I use a normal fish net and randomly scoop and put what i collect into a jar of clean fish tank water. I find a net works well as it allows the smaller larva to fall through but catches the bigger ones, this way i always have some more ready for the next day!

I also have daphnia in the water as well, they are more difficult to catch!

I thought about placing a net in the bottom of the tank and just pulling that out as i needed the larva, but decided catching was more fun - and this way i can pick and chose what size i collect. Also if you have a net in the bottom you will probably need a couple of buckets as you (depending on size of net) will catch everything and the water will need a couple of days to repopulate with larva.

As for the mosquito eggs, i have no idea how to harvest them, but i'm sure your fishies will enjoy the "hunt" of the larva swimming around in the fish tank.

I set out buckets every summer. Usually a couple so i can harvest one and let the other grow for a day. I use the larva so i have no idea about eggs, i just let nature happen and get the little squiggly larva. I suck them up with a turkey baster then keep transferring to smaller containers with clean water until i weed out all of the trash and dirty water. Then feed them to the fish!

My method takes time but it works well for me.
